How the Israeli tax calculator works
Israel uses a progressive income tax system with seven brackets ranging from 10% to 50%. On top of income tax, employees and the self-employed pay National Insurance and health tax on a tiered basis. Credit points then reduce the final income-tax bill — every resident gets at least 2.25 points, with extra points for women, parents, new immigrants (olim), and discharged soldiers.
Employees vs. self-employed
Income-tax brackets are identical, but National Insurance rates differ: employees pay 3.5% up to ₪7,122/month and 12% above, while the self-employed pay 2.87% and 12.83%. The self-employed can also deduct business expenses. Israel tax calculator — FAQ
How do I calculate income tax in Israel?
Israeli income tax is progressive with seven brackets from 10% to 50% (2026). Apply each bracket rate to the slice of income inside it, then subtract your credit points (nekudot zikui) — at least 2.25 points per resident, worth ₪242 each per month. This Israel tax calculator does all of it automatically from your gross salary.
What payroll taxes do employees pay in Israel?
An Israeli payslip has three deductions: income tax (10%–50% progressive), National Insurance / Bituach Leumi (3.5% up to ₪7,122 per month and 12% above, up to the cap), and health tax (3.1% / 5%). Employers additionally pay their own National Insurance contribution on top of your gross salary.
How much National Insurance do the self-employed pay?
Self-employed (atzmai) National Insurance rates for 2026 are 2.87% of income up to ₪7,122 per month and 12.83% above it, up to the monthly income cap. Unlike employees, the self-employed pay both the employee and employer share — but the payments are partly tax-deductible.
How do I work out my after-tax (net) salary in Israel?
Take your gross salary, subtract income tax after credit points, National Insurance, and health tax. For example, a ₪20,000/month employee with 2.25 credit points takes home roughly ₪15,000–₪15,500 depending on pension contributions. Enter your exact numbers in the calculator above for an instant net-salary result.
What are the Israel income tax brackets for 2026?
The 2026 monthly brackets: 10% up to ₪7,010; 14% to ₪10,060; 20% to ₪16,150; 31% to ₪22,440; 35% to ₪46,690; 47% above that; plus a 3% surtax over ₪67,560. See the full Israel income tax brackets page for the annual figures.
Do new immigrants (olim) get tax benefits in Israel?
Yes. New immigrants receive extra credit points for 4.5 years after aliyah (3 points in the first 18 months, then decreasing), plus a 10-year exemption on most foreign-source income. The calculator includes an oleh option to apply these automatically.
